Past Events
On June 1st, 2024, we celebrated the second cohort of writers for Cuentos de Confianza and the launch of their stories on the website. The writers, CCmáS health promoters, family, and friends were invited to celebrate this accomplishment and learn more about the stories. We gathered at the UW South Madison Partnership building in Madison, WI. To see pictures from our event, click through the gallery below. Congratulations, class of 2024!
From April 3-6 2023, Cuentos was featured in an exhibit at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the library’s Digital Humanities Lab. Visitors were able to experience the project on iPads set up at tables. As they listened to the stories, they had the option to contribute to a collaborative art project by coloring butterfly pictures and/or writing notes to the writers. On June 5th, 2022, we hosted a party to celebrate the launch of the Cuentos de Confianza website and its first six stories. Over 70 people gathered at Escuela Verde, a high school on Milwaukee’s south side, to learn about the project and celebrate the writers who completed the community writing class with Dr. Rachel Bloom-Pojar. Thanks to Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, a Mellon/ACLS Scholars and Society Fellowship, and UW-Milwaukee for sponsoring this event.
